When transplanting bareroot fruit, soak the roots overnight in a bucket of warm water mixed with compost or root stimulator fertilizer. If scale insects have troubled pears or plums, use ultrafine oil spray to smother them now while they’re vulnerable. Don’t spray within two days of a freeze. Prune muscadines for best fruit next summer. > more
